History
The history of Componenta’s iron castings began 200 years ago in Finland’s oldest still operating foundry.
History
1820
Högfors ironworks are founded in Karkkila, Finland. The foundry operations start in 1823. Karkkila foundry is the oldest still operating foundry in Finland.
1858
The Pori foundry in Finland is founded.
1918
Rauta- ja Metallivalimo Suomi is founded in Helsinki, Finland.
1953
Främmestad, currently part of Componenta, is founded iin Sweden.
1985
The Högfors foundry is acquired from Kymi-Strömberg.
1986
Suomivalimo acquires Santasalo-Vaihteet, which continues as an independent company.
1988
The Pori foundry is acquired from Rauma-Repola. Santasalo-Vaihteet shares are listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
1989
Suomivalimo becomes JOT-Yhtiöt.
1990
Främmestad machine shop is acquired in Sweden.
1993
Santasalo-Vaihteet acquires the shares of JOT-Yhtiöt and the Santasalo-JOT Group is founded. The Group’s foundry operations are called JOT Components.
1999
The gear operations of Santasalo-JOT are sold to Metso. The name of the Santasalo-JOT Group is changed to Componenta.
2000
Componenta focuses on foundry operations and its shares are listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
2005
Componenta acquires the majority shareholding in De Globe, which is a foundry company in the Netherlands.
2006
Componenta acquires the majority shareholding in a Turkish Döktas Dökümcülük Ticaret ve Sanayi, which focuses on cast iron and aluminium components.
2016
Componenta’s Finnish and Swedish operations are filed for restructuring. Componenta Netherlands is filed for bankruptcy. Operations in Turkey continue normally.
2017
After the confirmation of the restructuring programmes in Finland and Sweden, efficiency programmes continue. The Turkish operations are sold.
2018
Componenta operates in contract workshop business. Componenta has iron foundries in Pori and Karkkila, Finland as well as a machining and painting shop in Främmestad, Sweden.
2019
Componenta acquires Komas and becomes the leading metal component manufacturer in Finland. Componenta’s Swedish subsidiary files for bankruptcy.
2021
The restructuring programme of Componenta Corporation has ended upon the approval of the payment of restructuring debt carried out by the Company on 31 March 2021 by the supervisor and the provision of the supervisor’s final account of the restructuring programme to creditors on 27 April 2021.
